Welcome to Club Rio Outdoor Center and Wildlife Preserve

 

We have now opened the first phase of our Club Rio Outdoor Center located 1.5 kilometers directly below the resort along our beautiful stretch of Arenal River frontage.  This is a “Must See” amenity of The Springs Resort and Spa where we offer some of the most unique adventure activities in Costa Rica including Inflatable River Kayaking, River Tubing, Horseback Tours, Hiking Trails, Nature Tours, Hot Springs, Mountain Biking, Fishing, Swimming and a Wildlife Preserve for rescued animals.  Our new restaurant and bar, Rancho Club Rio, is now open for beverages and snacks and is a great place to relax in a beautiful atmosphere and watch the activity on the river and absorb the nature surrounding you.

Before or after your activities you can relax in hot spring pools just meters away from the scenic Arenal River or take a dip in a natural river pool where hot water percolates from the sand beneath your feet.  In certain areas of this pool you can lay in the hot sand while the cool river water flows over you.  It is a spectacularly beautiful and natural environment great for swimming or relaxing in a lounge chair and watching the river flow over the rapids.  . 

Please don’t miss our “Calcium Canyon” hiking trails where you can take a quick circular loop hike and see natural hot springs welling up from the forest floor and the beautiful calcium formations the water makes on its path to the river.  Midway along this hike there is an incredible “Guacima” tree that has enormous buttress roots 20 feet wide and offers a mystical photo opportunity.  There will be an attendant (NOT A LIFEGUARD) by the hot springs from 10 AM to 4 PM and he will have a limited menu of beverages and snacks and can give you an onsite orientation to help maximize your experience.  This is very close to our Ring of Cats, Monkey Rescue Center and the Horseback Riding Stables so you can combine a visit to the area with a scheduled tour of the Wildlife Preserve.

at T 9 am, 3 pm (feeding time) and 4 pm (you can go to the river after the 9 am tour and you can catch the last shuttle back up from below at 4:30 pm at The CATS Enclosure)

Negrita Note to Parents
You must watch your children at all times because Rivers and their borders can be dangerous areas.   Please do not allow them to do anything that appears dangerous.  We do not have lifeguards or babysitters and we cannot be responsible to supervise or discipline your children.  Children 13 and under must be accompanied and monitored by an adult at all times on the grounds of Club Rio.  Please do not allow children that cannot swim well in the hot springs or river pools.

CAUTION:  NO LIFEGAURD ON DUTY
YOU MUST ASSUME YOUR OWN RISK AT CLUB RIO.
Rivers, forest trails and natural rock formations are dangerous and you must be very careful when visiting this area.  There are many slippery surfaces and areas without railings so adults please accompany children under age 16.  River Currents can be swift and dangerous so please do not allow any person to swim in the river pool that is not a strong swimmer.  PLEASE USE COMMON SENSE NEAR THE RIVER!!!

Please do not arrive for any of our tours under the influence of Alcoholic Beverages!!
